The DrakWeb Site has grown. It has grown into a point of contact
between us and our clients and friends, as intended. It has certainly
grown into a work place, and even a study place. We do not believe that
we have yet created the "platform for new forms of art, science, and
even business". We think that we are progressing towards our lofty goals,
but in this regard we are reminded of the haiku by Issa, quoted
by J.D.Salinger in Franny and Zooey:
Oh, snail!
Climb Mt. Fuji,
but slowly, slowly!
The entire DrakWeb is a two-fold project. First, it is intended to
publish a body of work - the Opus Novum -- that has no single,
traditional category but which has roots in many of those categories.
Second, the DrakWeb aspires to be a prototype of what learning tools
can be when web technologies are used. Galileo described the best
teachers as those who teach by reminding us that we already know.
In this sense, we believe that the Internet is proving to be the best
teacher that most of us have experienced - are experiencing.
In this vein, then, the DrakWeb is intended to be a small intranet for
us and our fellow students. Here we hope to develop the tools we need
for useful and productive collaboration, and to document our learning
processes. If we can entertain and enlighten along the way, we are
pleased. If the work of one of our associates strikes you as being
potentially useful in your own commercial ventures, feel free to
contact that individual directly. Each of us are responsible for the
views expressed on our own Sites.
